Park(ing) Day 2023

Happening worldwide, in-person on Friday, September 15.

Come play with us! BSLA would love to have you participate in one of our Park(ing) Day installations. All are welcome!

What is Park(ing) Day? Park(ing) Day is a global day in which parking spaces are temporarily transformed into mini parks, happening this year on Friday, September 15. We like to use Park(ing) Day as a means to introduce kids and teens to landscape architecture.

Learn more about Park(ing) Day.

ASLA’s overall theme this year is Pollinators.

We will have three installations throughout our chapter:

Boston Location: outside Boston Green Academy on Cambridge St.

Portland Location: across the street from Portland High School on Cumberland Ave.

Western Mass Location: in front of Friendly’s on Main St. in Florence.

Pictured: BSLA PARKing Day installation 2022, in collaboration with Boston Green Academy, Brighton, Mass. Once set up, activities invited teens to explore seeds and soils. Ninth graders led the setup, and they completely changed the street outside of their school for that day. Boston’s Deputy Chief of Urban Design, landscape architect Diana Fernandez, ASLA, stopped by to say hello.
