GDIRC: Exploring Portable Play Virtual Roundtable

Online. Free.

GDIRC is excited to announce our new initiative - PORTABLE PLAY!

Through our own experiences and collaborations with partners and communities, we recognize the need for play environments that are interactive, transportable, and non-permanent to be community inclusive, socially healing, replicable, and scalable. Play can take many shapes and forms; in the same way, portable play is less of a fixed definition but more like a lens to allow multiple interpretations. We are excited to hear the different answers and engage more people in this conversation.

 We have two upcoming events:

  • On February 28th at 6:00 pm (ETS), we will host a virtual roundtable to kick off this initiative, during which you will discuss the therapeutic aspects of play in the context of refugee camps, addressing design drivers and potential challenges.

  • On March 25th (all-day), we are planning for a design charrette hosted by the Massachusetts College of Art and Design to work with students and faculty, designers and artists across the Colleges of the Fenway to conceptualize possibilities through drawings and concept models.

    • Click here link to RSVP

Both events are free, and we welcome everyone interested in this topic.

We look forward to seeing you!
