BSLA is pleased for our high school outreach program to be a Landscape Architecture Foundation’s “Superstudio Spotlight”!
From LAF:
Catalyzed by the Green New Deal Superstudio open call, a team of diverse partners came together to create the Youth Landscape Architecture Studio (YLAS) pilot, a 12-week after-school program for Boston high school students. The Boston Society of Landscape Architects (BSLA) and the Boston Architectural College (BAC) partnered with the Emerald Necklace Conservancy, Reed Hilderbrand, and others to introduce teenagers to landscape architecture and contribute to the Franklin Park Action Plan, a community-driven planning effort to revitalize Franklin Park. With the support of practitioners and BAC student teachers, the YLAS participants worked to redesign areas of the park considering sustainability and how public spaces can better serve all.
Join us to learn more about the YLAS pilot and how it can be used as a model to engage youth in other communities.
