Tufts University Community Housing (CoHo)

The jury liked the meaningful and adaptive use of existing resources to address the shortage of student housing, and the surgical approach to challenging topography that created shared social campus spaces in the backyard, while the front yard remained tied into the neighborhood. Jurors liked simplicity and minimalism, while some would have liked to see a more diverse planting palette. New connections back to the campus were great. The approach to parking was also very thoughtful--the team didn't just take parking away, they thought through access and dropoff points that kept cars out of the middle.
