Women in Design: Intersections

BSLA is pleased to be a partner in the Women in Design’s annual “Intersections” conference, in collaboration with the BSA Design for Aging Committee, the BSA Access Committee, and the Boston Society for Architecture.

This year's Intersections symposium will explore Mobility, Equity, and the Built Environment, as a means of physical and representational participation. Panels, presentations and site tours will explore the full range of what it means for the built environment to be accessible and inclusive - physically, economically, environmentally, and beyond. This is an invitation to look at how mobility operates in design, and how it can become a force in dismantling structural social inequities.

Day one of the symposium will kick off with a keynote panel, 3 presentations, Women in Design Award of Excellence Ceremony and Happy Hour. All events will be in person at the BSA Space, recordings of the presentations will be available after the event.

Day two will consist of two site tours, hosted in collaboration with BSLA’s Inside/Out. The two tours include a walk audit in Allston with the Allston Brighton Health Collaborative, and a site tour of the new Louis A DePasquale Universally Accessible Playground at Danehy Park in Cambridge by Cheri Ruane, FASLA; the landscape architect who led the design. These tours each will focus on ways that these neighborhood spaces have been — or might be — redesigned to embrace mobility and equity.

See the Symposium website, including links to the full SCHEDULE and REGISTRATION for sessions held at BSA Space.
