Community Engagement Specialist

Envision Resilience is part of the philanthropic organizations and initiatives created and funded by Eric and Wendy Schmidt to work toward a healthy, resilient, secure world for all.
Envision Resilience is building a team to help grow its impact in working toward inclusive, adaptive and resilient climate futures through design and community engagement. The nonprofit is seeking skilled and visionary professionals to join its team. The Community Engagement Specialist will be responsible for generating, fostering and maintaining thoughtful, impactful long-term partnerships with community members in each of the towns and cities Envision Resilience works in. Regular travel to Envision Resilience community sites will be required.
Position Description:
Envision Resiliences seeks a Community Engagement Specialist with practiced and demonstrated success in building connections with stakeholders and community members to advance local efforts, support resilience projects and inspire collaborative work toward resilient climate futures.
Responsibilities:
Support lead on community engagement for Envision Resilience.
Maintain a stakeholder resource database, ensuring information is accurate and up-to-date.
Track community engagement (before, during and after design studio years).
Attend events, community meetings and events on behalf of Envision Resilience to represent and introduce all programs and collaborative opportunities.
Regularly seek and form new partnerships and strengthen existing ones to better serve Envision Resilience communities, partners and students.
Oversee protocol and systems for community engagement with university partners and studio teams.
Support engagement between studio teams and community advisors.
Contribute to the Envision Resilience communications and marketing strategy and plan.
Work with the Communications team on outreach and communication materials, social media and outreach.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Regular travel to events, offices and other assigned locations approximately 50-60% of the time.
Preferred Experience:
Passion for working toward just, inclusive, adaptive and resilient climate futures.
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, science communications, architecture or planning, urban studies or another related field.
Experience in climate work is strongly preferred.
Proven success and experience in community engagement related work.
Excellent pre-planning, planning, workflow training and execution, communication, and problem-solving skills
Strong interpersonal skills to interface and coordinate professionally with a number of diverse internal and external contacts, including community partners and students.
Demonstrated adaptability and comfort in working in a fast-paced environment to help develop and implement new structures, frameworks and systems.
Strong written
A proven track record of the ability and skills to help turn visionary ideas into innovative solutions.
A history of fostering and maintaining positive and productive collaborative relationships with many external partners, stakeholders, universities.
Excellent word processing skills and fluency with MS Office, Google Suite, and online databases as well as strong written and verbal communication skills
