Operations Manager

Envision Resilience is a nonprofit organization that works to advance innovative city planning and design in the face of climate change through student and community partnerships. Envision Resilience is building a team to help grow its impact in working toward inclusive, adaptive and resilient climate futures through design and community engagement. The nonprofit is seeking skilled and visionary professionals to join its team. The Operations Manager will manage the opening of a new office building and work with an integrated family office management company to manage Envision Resilience’s core operational support across functions including legal, grants, HR, finance and IT.

Responsibilities and Opportunities:

The Operations Manager will report directly to the Executive Director, supporting leadership in the day-to-day management of Envision Resilience operations:

  • Serve as key point person to an integrated family office management company to manage Envision Resilience’s core operational support related to legal, grants, HR, finance and IT.

  • Oversee day-to-day management of Envision Resilience operations.

  • Manage property logistics by coordinating with IT and on-site Property Management to address any IT or building issues (including HVAC, leaks, security, etc.), ordering pantry and office supplies and establishing cleaning schedules.

  • Lead operational logistics for Envision Resilience events – acting as the point person for events both on- and offsite, gifts for jurors and speakers, exhibition planning and programming, including catering, invites, AV, etc.

  • Work with the Envision Resilience team to improve current systems and implement new processes to workflow, organizational design and stakeholder engagement.

  • Partner with the Community Engagement team to manage operations of academic partners, community partners and practitioner partners (i.e. faculty, speakers, advisors, jurors).

  • Support staff onboarding process in partnership with the Human Resources team.

  • Support the management of budgets, financial reporting, grants management and contracts with vendors.

  • Support the rollout of new tools and platforms that support new programmatic work.

  • Ensure employees have access to systems, hardware and supplies.

  • Assist team in travel coordination, logistics and book (i.e. faculty workshops)

  • Lead and support Special Projects as they arise.

Key Experience

  • Passion for working toward just, inclusive, adaptive and resilient climate futures.

  • Five + years in operational management, including financial and administrative systems management.

  • Experience in grant management systems.

  • Background in climate or environmental science, science communications, architecture or planning, urban studies or another related field.

  • Interest and background in sustainability, resilience and community development.

  • Adaptability and comfort in working in a fast-paced environment to help develop and implement new tools, frameworks and systems.

  • The ability and skills to help turn visionary ideas into innovative solutions.

  • Ability to foster and maintain positive and productive collaborative relationships with a high volume of external partners, stakeholders, universities.

  • A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making skills.
